How does the Gómez PEER work? What
does it do with my spare capacity?
The Gómez PEER
runs in the background of your PC, contributing
it's spare resources (such as otherwise wasted
processing power, RAM, and bandwidth) to test
the performance of Web sites. The Internet is
a dynamic environment and the performance of Web-based
applications depends on a variety of factors.
Internet congestion, network bottlenecks, your
ISP and geographical location, the characteristics
of your PC, and the performance and capacity of
back-end servers all play a role in the speed
of Web sites. Each PEER
in Gómez's network serves as a "beacon,"
testing the performance of Web sites and paving
the way for better performance
How to earn money as a PEER?
Active Gómez PEER
are eligible to earn money. If selected as Active,
you must accumulate 4 hours of Online Time each
day (cumulative) before being eligible for Processing
Time payments. Payments can be made up of one
or more of the following:
Online Time Payments. Payments for the
total time your computer was connected to the
Internet and available to work for Gómez,
including any time your computer actually processed
work for Gómez.
Processing Time Payments. Payments for
the time your computer spent processing work for
Gómez. This includes time your computer
processed work before and after the daily 4 hour
minimum Online Time threshold is met. NOTE: If
you do not meet the daily Online Time minimum
(4 hours), you are not paid for that day's Processing
Time.
Referral bonus. Payments for referring
friends who are selected as Active Gómez
PEERs. There are specific criteria that potential
Gómez PEERs must meet for you to receive
referral bonus payments. Click here
